Mahr was founded in 1861 by Carl Mahr and is headquartered in Göttingen, Germany. The company specializes in production metrology and offers a wide range of products. The portfolio ranges from gear measuring devices and digital calipers to micrometers. In 1970, a U.S. subsidiary was established in Charlotte under the name Feinprüf Corp. To expand its U.S. activities, Federal Products Co. in Providence was acquired in 1999, and in 2003 production was expanded in Suzhou, China. Through numerous small acquisitions in 2015, the company strengthened its position in Europe, the U.S., and Asia. Today, the group looks back on over 150 years of tradition.

The company is divided into three business units: Mahr Metrology, Metering Systems, and Ball Bearing Guides. The metrology segment produces high-quality products such as contour measuring devices and calipers. The Metering Systems division focuses on gear metering pumps and mixing technologies, which are used for dosing liquids, among other things. The ball bearing segment manufactures ball cages and guide shafts, mainly used in precision metrology and mechanical engineering. Maximum guiding accuracy and smooth operation are the key features of these product groups. As a result, Mahr products are highly valued across diverse production sectors.
